You've come to the right place if you want to learn how to play Texas Hold'em. At the start of each hand, the two players to the dealer's left are required to make "blind" bets. These bets are made before the dealer deals any cards, and they can be thought of as similar to the ante found in many varieties of Poker. Each player receives two cards face down. The player sitting to the left of the big blind begins the betting. Each of the other players must call the big blind if they wish to stay in the hand. The big and small blind players are "live," which means that they can raise in the initial round of betting, once the action gets back around to them. The Flop The dealer turns 3 cards face up, in the center of the table. This is called the Flop. These are the community cards, and they are to be used by all of the players.
