  I know that Caribbean stud is relatively new game, though it actually originates from the old poker game. I find it very interesting, especially it is online variant.

  it is somehow tricky that we know who invented roulette, for example, which happened hundreds of years ago, but we don't know who invented Caribbean stud, which happened less than thirty years ago ;) but that's not that important, I guess. The most important thing is that the game is interesting and has a lot of fans, like me.

History

The other theory suggests that it was developed by a clever Caribbean cruise ship operator who planned to introduce it on his line of cruise ships so as to make a bigger gambling profit, as the game provides the house with a large 5.26% edge. The game appeared in the casinos of Las Vegas a short five years after its introduction in Aruba. Still, thanks to the large house edge, the game wasn't very popular with experienced gamblers. The casinos sought to overcome this downside by offering a progressive side jackpot so as to lure those seeking big money wins. Presently, the game can be found not just on cruise ships, but also in most dry-land casinos As well, not to mention the many popular on-line casinos that host the game.
