I agree that knowing the terms is very important. I had a bad experience two years ago and learned my lesson, but lost some money back then. This page is good for beginners to learn the terms and the odds.

Hope others have wins as I have! I learned how the odds work and am pretty familiar with the special 7 card poker glossary. Now that there are so many gambling websites, it's fairly safe to play and win some money.

Glossary

Blinds
These are forced bets made by the first two players sitting after the dealer. They're made before any cards are dealt, which is why they're called 'blind' bets. The first blind is posted by the player sitting to the left of the dealer, who makes the 'small blind'. This bet is half the size of the minimum bet for the game. The next player posts the 'big blind', which is the full size of the game's minimum bet. At that point, each of the remaining players must call the big blind. As the dealer button travels around the table, so too do the blind positions. This helps drive the action, since it guarantees there's always money in the pot.
Board In Texas Hold'em
5 community cards will eventually be dealt face up on the middle of the table. These cards are also refered to as the "board". The 2 cards dealt to each player are not part of the board.
Check-Raise
A player checks his hand to give the impression that he has an average hand, so that another player might raise at which point the player who checked earlier would then raise again so as to make a bigger pot.
Flop
The first three cards dealt into the community pile is known as the Flop.
Muck
To fold one's hand without revealing ones cards.
Nuts or Nut Hand
To have the highest hand possible at that point in the hand. This status is likely to change when more cards are added to the board.
Rake
The casino takes a certain commission from each pot. This 'rake' can be either a percentage of the pot or a set amount.
River
This is the 5th and final card to be added to the 5 community cards. It's also called '5th Street'. Suited Connectors Cards one holds that are in consecutive order and that share a suit. Turn When the 4th of the 5 community cards is dealt, this is called the 'turn'. It's also sometimes called '4th Street'.
