Twenty-four men with an average BMI of 32 received 4.2g of CLA or a placebo for four weeks. The average man who used CLA reduced his waistline by a significant amount, which is important as abdominal fat has been linked with an increased risk of the metabolic syndrome and may therefore put people at risk of cardiovascular disease.

These researchers recruited 50 men and women with an average BMI of 25 and gave them 4.2g of CLA per day or a placebo for 12 weeks. The average CLA user reduced their body fat by 3.8% and the supplements were well tolerated.
